What makes a non-fasting result the most desireable way of testing as opposed to a fasting result? What is the difference and what does it mean?

How about HbgA1c? Do I still need to be fasting for this one? Being a type 2 who now takes insulin shots.

In my training they tought us that the fasting values give a standard background levels of TGs. Nonfasing TGs will be greatly affected by the type and time of the previous meal[s].
Ideally, one would have continuous monitoring, fasting, then challanged by a know quantities of TGs, then observe how the liver and other organs deals with TGs.
