Dr. Joe,
I'm thrilled to see you reporting on Resveratrol. This is one of the most fascinating molecules that Mother Nature has provided. As you mentioned, Resveratrol appears to be an effective calorie restriction mimic. Interested folks should read the cover article in Scientific American (March 2006)by Dr. David Sinclair (Harvard)for a complete explanation of the science.
I own a health food store and have been following this story for over 3 years. Resveratrol supplements are widely available but, according to Sinclair, lose much of their biological activity in supplement form. To provide the anti-aging effects, the Sirtuin gene must be activated. I have asked every company that makes a Resveratrol supplement if they have any proof that their product activates the Sirtuin gene. Most companies don't know what I'm talking about, and only one product has offered me any proof. The product is called Longevinex.
Rather than being a "plug", I'm convinced that this is the only Resveratrol product to date that is likely to give the benefits we read about. Each capsule is the equivalent of 80-100 glasses of wine.
Along with Vitamin D3 and L-Arginine, Resveratrol is emerging as a truly profound supplement. Thanks, Dr. Joe, for keeping us the cutting edge!
