The side effects of statins.
The Wall Street Journal the week of 12 Feb 2008 reported increasing concerns on the part of some cardiologists that statins, particularly atorvastatin, might be adversely affecting their patient’s memory.

It does appear that some people have adverse mental reactions to Statins in the form of memory loss. Is this an uncommon side effect or a general reaction? The literature suggests that it's an uncommon side effect. And there is evidence that statins reduce the risk of dimentia. Reference, Medscape: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/458867_4
The only one with enough data to help memory is Zocor. Observation only. This rest in cardiology concerns, not research.
