A type 1 ultra marathon man is running 500 miles. He is “recruiting” team members to run with him for segments of his journey. Amy Gonsalves is going to do it. She is going to run the Silicon Valley Marathon portion and run from Marin across the Golden Gate bridge into the south bay. She wrote on her Diabetes Outside Blog about it.
I have been a consultant to high school athletes on better performance to get a good scholarship.
I have helped college athletes become their best.
Olympic athletes have seen their recovery time significantly shorten with my suggestions.
But best of all I have seen those with a chronic disease, those with diabetes 1, win gold in Olympic swimming, run Marathons that ended during mass in St. Peters Square with the Pope ceasing the sermon until applause for the runners died down, and now one leg of an “ultra marathon” with all the other legs covered by those with diabetes 1, a team effort that shows that everyone can win with diabetes. Kudos to all that run. Has diabetes 1 always been this cool? Are they the type of people that find an acoustic guitar included in their hotel room to entice them back? Let’s support her every “step” of the way. Go Amy go! It’s your time!
