Much about MODY
MODY, or Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young, (Monogenic Diabetes) is in 1-5% of all children with diabetes in childhood. Most of the time it is incorrectly diagnosed as type 1. It is treated incorrectly as type 1 diabetes.
How the treatment can change depends on what type of MODY the patient has. Diet and exercise may be enough, perhaps pills. There are also types of MODY that would be treated with insulin. The pattern of insulin treatment is that which is appropriate for a MODY, not a type one.
