Earlier this year, I shared with you what I learned about www.diabetesoutside.com, a website Amy Gonsalves created for kids and families living with diabetes. Amy’s goal is simple: to share with people the resources she had to uncover on her own over the past twenty years—the kind of practical information on diabetes that can’t be found in brochures and pamphlets inside the doctor’s office. That is Diabetes Outside.

In addition to answering common questions online from parents and families new to diabetes, Amy applies her background as a certified personal trainer to develop goal-oriented fitness programs for kids, teens, families, and young adults living with diabetes. She teaches them how to be physically fit while having a fun, safe time together. Amy’s message to her clients is clear: growing up with diabetes can be a struggle but with the tools she provides, diabetes won’t stop them from getting the most out of life!
