Two Diseases in a Person are not Well Understood
Diseases such as diabetes often do not come alone. Often they result in a patient having to manage more than one disease at a time. Studies show patients are not prepared for this.

Arena Pharmaceuticals and Eisai Inc. recently released results of a phase 3 clinical trial for lorcaserin, a weight-loss drug they are developing in partnership. The trial, called BLOOM-DM (Behavioral modification and Lorcaserin for Overweight and Obesity Management- Diabetes Management), targeted patients with type 2 diabetes who are overweight or obese.

FDA Announces Recall of Abbott Glucose Test Strips
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that the agency is working with Abbott Diabetes Care to recall 359 different lots of glucose test strips that were sold between January and May 2010 and marketed under the following brand names:
These test strips may give falsely low blood glucose results, which can lead patients to try to raise their blood glucose when it is unnecessary, or to fail to treat elevated blood glucose due to a falsely low reading.
The FDA has provided specific recommendations for patients and healthcare professionals with regard to the recalled products.
