Dear Dr. Joe,How do I deal with such ignorance regarding vitamin d3? My 82 year old uncle, who suffers from diabetes, along with diabetic amyotrophy and non-aggressive prostate cancer, recently had his d levels tested by his primary physician. His d levels came back at 65 ng/ml and the doctor ordered me to immediately stop any and all d supplementation as this number was WAY TOO HIGH in his opinion. BTW, my uncle had been taking 12,000 i.u. daily since Feb 2012 to date. This primary physician was absolutely closed to hearing about vitamin d3. He told me it is a useless supplement. BTW, my uncle is housebound, and lives in the basement, and gets no natural sunlight. His doctor told me that this does not matter. How can there still be SUCH IGNORANCE out there in the medical community regarding vitamin d3? Please, if you would respond, please do--I would like my uncle to be convinced that he needs vitamin d3 for his health. Thank you.Rita
